Course Description

This intensive 3-day course is designed to equip you with the fundamental skills and knowledge to create and design beautiful, responsive websites using HTML and CSS. You will learn to navigate and utilize the VS Code editor, understand the basics of HTML and CSS and explore advanced web design techniques. By the end of the course, you'll be able to create a fully functional and visually appealing website, optimized for different devices and ready for publication.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Navigate and utilize the VS Code editor, including its user interface, tools panel and extensions
  • Comprehend the basics of CSS, distinguish between HTML and CSS formatting and apply CSS styling effectively
  • Develop a new website, including evaluating design options and drafting content
  • Create a responsive HTML page layout adaptable to different screen sizes using media queries
  • Work with text, lists and tables in HTML, including spell-checking webpages and finding and replacing text
  • Incorporate images into a webpage, adjusting their positions with CSS classes
  • Implement effective navigation using hyperlinks and create destination links within the same page
  • Utilize the Bootstrap framework for advanced design, optimizing websites for mobile and ensuring consistent navigation across all pages
  • Publish a website online, including defining a remote site, cloaking folders and files and performing final checks on all page components

The Instructor

Shamini Devi Muniandy

Shamini Devi Muniandy holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Computer Science from De Monfort University and numerous professional certifications from Autodesk® and the Department of Skills Development, including Autodesk® 3ds Max® and Maya®. She has held various roles throughout her career, such as an IT Development Manager, Lecturer and Administrator and is currently serving as a Trainer. Shamini has a wealth of experience in training and media production, IT development and lecturing, specializing in software like Autodesk® Maya®, Autodesk® 3ds Max®, Adobe® Creative Suite, Vray®, Unity3D®, Nuke® and Rhino®. She has conducted various training projects for institutions and companies, focusing on areas like 3D animation, games art design, architectural visualization and soft skills training. Fluent in English, Malay and Tamil, Shamini is also involved in strategic planning, blended learning and effective communication, making her a versatile and highly skilled professional in her field.
